Counseling

The American School Counselor Association describes High School Counselors as educators who are uniquely qualified to help students navigate academic, peer and parental pressures as they face high-stakes testing, the challenges of college admissions, scholarship and financial aid application process and entrance into competitive job markets. High school counselors define and focus their school counseling programs based on the school’s academic, attendance and discipline data. Identifying student needs through this data and consulting with administrators guides program development (ASCA, 2019).  Atlanta Public Schools High School Counselors offer direct and indirect services for students in the following ways:
